Brenda Pope, BSc, MBA, CISA, MCMI, is partner in charge of the Advisory practice in KPMG Barbados. She is responsible for the firm’s practice in the area of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Information Risk Management (IRM), as well as Human Resource Management, Performance Improvement and Business Process Engineering. She is specifically responsible for the delivery of all computer related services including strategic IT planning, computer resource management, security reviews and hardware/software evaluation and selection, and also has special responsibility for the Barbados Information Risk Management (IRM) practice with emphasis on Internet and network security. Brenda has over twenty-eight (28) years experience as an ICT consultant in information risk management, project management, requirements analysis, software analysis and design, software selection or development, implementation and deployment for a wide range of private and public sector clients in sectors such as social security, general insurance, banking, commerce, hospitality, finance, manufacturing and transport, and experience of several platforms and operating systems.
A Barbados Scholar, she holds a first class honours degree in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from McMaster University and an MBA (Distinction) in International Business from Henley Management College, Brunel University. She also holds the professional designation Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) and is a member of the Chartered Management Institute. She was the Chairman of the Information Technology Advisory Committee to the Barbados Ministry of Education on computer technology in education (EDUTECH2000) and was a member of the Advisory Committee on e-commerce legislation for Barbados. She was also one of three private sector representatives on the Barbados National Advisory Committee on Year 2000 compliance. She is currently a member of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training subcommittee on Information Technology.
Brenda has made numerous IRM and ICT presentations throughout the Caribbean and Latin America including papers on Year2000 issues at the International Conference of Social Security in Mexico, Security in e-Business at a Nortel sponsored Senior Executive Forum in Miami, Florida, the e-business value chain at a Central Bank sponsored electronic commerce in Barbados and on ICT, e-business and security at conferences in Belize, St Lucia and Antigua.
