Ashwell Thomas graduated from the University of the West Indies, Mona (BA) and Kensington University, Glendale, California, U.S.A. (M.Sc. Human Resource Development & Ph.D. in Business Administration).
Dr. Thomas joined Goddard Enterprises Limited in June 1996 as Divisional Manager, Human Resources, having previously worked with Carreras Group Limited/Rothmans International (JA/UK) in a similar position for 17 years.
At Goddard Enterprises, he has restructured the Group’s human resource functions to improve its effectiveness and to add value in the operations of the Group by helping operating managers align human resource strategies, processes and practices with business needs.
He was appointed to the Board of Goddard Enterprises Limited in 1998. Dr. Thomas is the author of several publications including a book on Retirement Planning. He is a past President of the Barbados Employers Confederation and currently serves on the Board of Globe Finance Inc., Sagicor General Insurance Inc., TMR Sales & Services Lmited, the Barbados Productivity Council and TVET.
